SOTV!!!

Karma. Life is all about karma. What goes around comes around. After a pretty naff day in the office with every computer I touch seeming to want to have a disk failure, there was only one way my evening could go!

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock (or living in the US), *THE* forgotten fixture between The Blues and The Vile took place at St Andrews tonight. We’ve waited 16 years for this fixture, and it lived up to all the expectations.

A great goal by Clinton Morrison started things on the right note. But it was the 2nd half c*ck-up by Vile goalie Peter Enckelman which will be remembered as the most bizzare own goal I have ever seen. A gentle throw in back to goal, no pressure, no one coming up to him, and the keeper makes light contact and it rolls into the back of his own net. I’ll have to get an MPEG of this ‘cos it’s just too funny!

Geoff Horsfield topped off the night to seal a 3-0 win to the Blues. Fantastic! Worth waiting 16 years for!!!

KRO. SOTV.

Grrr – I hate Manchester!

Talk about plain stupid. Martketing Manchester decides to do a poll and ask people (in Manchester?) about which English City is second after London. For gawd’s sake – how many times does this have to get brought up?!

Birmingham is over twice the effin’ size of it’s nearest rival with a poluation over 6 and half million in the region.

Grrrr….

Oh yeah – this years Ryder Cup is being held in the City too – so watch out for us beating the Yanks there in a couple of weeks. 🙂

Finally!!

Finally, Monday saw the UK release of my fave track of the Summer – Janerio by Solid Sessions. Natalie Smith provides the vocals to a great summer anthem!

Here’s the blurb from Positiva:

It’s a bit of a busy summer for Positiva, as you may have noticed, and we have yet another dance anthem about to be unleashed on the UK! Solid Sessions release “Janeiro” on September 2nd on 2 12″s and CD. Formats include the new vocal version, remixes from Armin Van Buuren, James Holden, Chiller Twist, and Marc Et Claude With Paul Hutsch, alongside the classic original!

As usual, the music speaks for itself, so why not listen to the Pronti & Kalmani Remix in it’s entirety here (Real Audio Format) or watch the video here.Still want more info?

September Dance Chart – 2002

OK – some great tracks (as always) for the September chart. Clear Blue Water is a great piece of uplifing vocal trance – nice haunting lyrics – her voice is similar that of Maria Nayler, Maria Rubia and Skye. Good in both the original and Ferry Corsten mixes! (Watch out for the follow-up “Sky Falls Down”). Beautiful Child by Madelyne and Do You Know by Silverblue are equally as strong in their own rights!

There’s also a Lange Mix and an Airscape Mix in this month’s chart – Lange comes up with the goods as always with his mix of Ian Van Dahl’s “Reason” and gives it a new lease of life. The Airscape Mix of “Do You Know” by Silverblue won’t leave you disappointed. I’ll be adding some Lange and Airscape discographies soon!

For the housey fans check out Loving The Alien, Beautiful, and the new albums by Amber and Mary J Blige.

Thanks for eveyone that e-mails me – keep the comments and recommendations coming 🙂 See ya next month!

Geek Toy Of The Moment

My fave want at the moment has to be hot new mobile phone from Sony Ericsson – the T68i. It’s just so darned cool! Sorry to be a geek, but it has Bluetooth, MMS, picture ID and a COLOUR screen. Plus you can get the Communicam gadget and send the pix to your Auntie Mildred in Singapore. Nice.

Anyway, since I was looking to buy a mob, I decided to do some research and found this great place called Howard Forums and it seems there’s more good stuff coming out later this year, like the P800 from Sony and the 7210 from Nokia. Polyphonic ringtones are the future!! 🙂

Anyway – be on the look out if you’re in NYC and some cutie batootie comes over to you pretending to be a tourist and wanting you to take their picture. According to this article Sony have 60 models around NYC posing as regular people asking them to take their photos. They then hand over the T68i in the $5 million campaign to try and pursuade you this thing is hotter than a pair of hottie hot dogs.

Anyway, watch this video, and you’ll wonder how you’ve been managing without MMS 4 so long! (Well, I’m wondering….)TPAlright, since some of you people out there can’t speak Mandarin, here’s the translation of what’s going on in the video:

The first one says “You will be splashed”
Then in the library it’s a poem:”Plaid skirts interest people the most”.
The guy walks up to her and calls her “Pathetic/immature”
The next message is “Pretending to be cool is hazardous to your health.”
In the cafeteria she gets a message that says:”A phone without SMS, is a phone without a heart”
Then all the messages are basically repeated with the motorcycle splashing.

Oh, and if you’re really interested, the track is by Jay Chou (he’s the dude in the video, too).

Jenny Kitten says sorry

Jenny Frost, one-third of British pop group Atomic Kitten, was banned from driving for a month on Wednesday after being found guilty of speeding.

Each of the babes from the pop group were given MG’s last December as part of lucrative sponsorship deal with MG Rover. Jenny was caught shortly after getting the car whilst returning from a perfomance in Cardiff when she was caught on the M4 motorway doing 110mph. As well as the month long ban, she also has a GBP400 fine. She said she was sorry for speeding and that it was one of the first times she’d driven the car (all the more reason to drive slowly, no?!).

Silverstone 2002

Friday 19th July 2002 saw the start of the 52nd International MG meeting at Silverstone in Northants, UK. The annual event spans three days, with races, MG stalls selling all sorts of goodies for any age/model of MG, and the opportunity to drive your MG round the circuit on the parade laps. Nice 🙂

Results from all the races can be found here.

Pictures and video clips from the weekend can be found on the MG Car Club here, on Caroline Woodley’s website here and on The MG Pit here.

New month, new job!

So, after one month of craziness, one too many Starbucks Mocha Coconut Frappuccino’s, and more mind changes than you can shake a toaster at, I finally started my new job at 3 Times Square! You can see more photos of my new workplace at Wired NY and Fox Fowle.

One of the coolest things about X Square is that you can just use “X” for “Times” and save yourself a valuable 4 keystrokes. Another great thing about X Square is that they film TRL just across the street. I’m having problems though, since I’m still not sure which of these muppets is Carson Daily. Beats me.

Here’s a photo of an ice cream. It’s darn hot here, and I feel like one. (By that I mean that I feel like eating an ice cream, as opposed to actually feeling like an ice cream feels)(Just in case you were getting confused). Huh?

Sailfish no more…

So, that’s it then. All over. Remember when you were a kid and you used to grab a packet of Rolo’s and everyone always wanted to know who you were going give your last one to, since it meant something special. And then you started muching them, and they were just too good. One by one they’d go, and you’d look into your grubby paws, and then, whoosh, bam, all your Rolo’s are gone! Well, that’s what happened to Sailfish Systems – gawn!

Well, kind of. Actually, it’s not similar. But the company has shut down and the merry band of peeps have moved on.

Here’s the happy pics of the final Sailfish dot com closedown party: Stefan’s Page and Remy’s Page.

So long, and thanks for all the (sail)fish.
